Austin, Texas – Jonathan Saenz, leader of the advocacy group Texas Values which defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman, has struggled with the personal tragedy of divorce. The political Left, which attempts to frame anyone supporting marriage as exclusively between a male and female as being anti-Gay, has expressed their jubilation over the news that Saenz and his wife divorced because she is a lesbian.
Apparently, Mrs. Saenz was in the process of divorcing her husband in 2011 when he took over as the leader of Texas Values. The group scored a major success in getting Texas to approve a law defining marriage as a strictly between a man and a woman. However, the law was overturned in a federal appeals court on the grounds it violated it equal protection clause of the Constitution.
In reality, the fact that the Saenz’s divorced has nothing to do with the politics of Mr. Saenz. It likely has to do with his wife coming to terms with her sexuality. There have been many people who honestly believed they were heterosexual or who tried in earnest to be only to conclude later in life they are not.
The breakup of their marriage is no more beneficial to the LGBT cause than it is to the traditional marriage cause. Still, the provincial mentality of politics often has one side finding joy in the tragedies or shortcomings of the opposition. It is best to maintain a personal value of never kicking a person when they are down.
