The parents won the case and were able to have their son circumcised. Medical experts have stated that the benefits of circumcision outweigh the risks that are associated with it. This is a common practice in America. However, it is rare in European countries. In fact, many of these countries are taking steps to ban this practice.
Male circumcision has always been practiced in Muslim and Jewish countries. It became popular in the United States and the United Kingdom in the 19th century. In 2014, Mayo Clinic did a study that highlighted the benefits of circumcision. They stated that circumcision can decrease the risk of HIV, herpes and urinary tract infections.
People who are opposed to circumcision have stated that circumcision can be a traumatic experience. They also consider it a violation of a human rights. In 2013, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe condemned the practice of circumcision. They stated that it violates the physical integrity of children. They also called it a form of criminal assault.
