VIDEO: Police Officers Caught on Tape Saying Something They’ll Forever Regret

With the cases mounting of police officers acting inappropriately, it seems to be a competition for how low they can go. Two Austin, TX police officers are certainly front runners in the competition of disgusting comments.

While on duty and sitting in their patrol car, officers Mark Lytle and Michael Castillo were having what they thought was a private conversation. The dashcam in the car was accidentally left on, so the May 24th comments were recorded. The conversation includes the two officers discussing their importance to society. Then, they laughingly commented on raping an attractive woman that they saw walking nearby.

The first officer says, “Look at that girl over there.” The second officer blows a whistle and says, “Go ahead and call the cops; they can’t un-rape you.” The officer responds, “Yeah, exactly…you did turn the camera off, didn’t you?” “They can’t un-rape you,” repeats the first officer. Laughter continues. Drew Gibbs, an attorney working on another case, discovered the tape.

After authenticating the footage, an Austin Police Department spokesperson said there would be a thorough investigation and that this type behavior was not up to the level of professionalism of the Austin Police Department. Austin Police Association President Wayne Vincent stands behind the officers. He says the comments were made at an “unguarded moment” and someone “took advantage” of the situation and wanted to embarrass the police department. How many more “unguarded moments” have there been that we don’t know about.

With Wayne Vincent does it even matter?
