You have probably seen countless videos of tourists going up to guards at London’s Buckingham Palace and trying to make them laugh. They imitate them, make funny faces, or get right up close to them, hoping to make the guard move an inch. While those guards may be stuffy and uptight, here is a video of something a little different.
In the following video, you can see a small child marching into the frame like a true professional.
It is clear from the way this child acts that he has watched the changing of the guard multiple times and perhaps even looks up to these men. He even has a jacket, a prop gun, and a hat, and he has the quintessential straight legged march down and practiced.
When the boy approaches the guard, you might expect him to ignore the child and continue on with his straight faced gig. However, this guard is a little different, an decides to humor the boy. The guard treats him like his peer, saluting him and walking alongside him for a few steps.
It is clear by their chuckles and smiles that their little act has entertained those people standing around and watching. In the end, the boy marches off screen and the guard returns to his post as if nothing has happened. But it is more than likely that the guard has just made this little boy’s day.
