This Baby Fell Into The Pool, But He Was Put There On Purpose, And The Reason Will Save His Life

Toddlers needs constant care and vigilance especially when inside or near any body of water. In an instant, they can drown in as little as an inch of water. In this video, a baby boy wearing a full pajama jumper outfit is seen at the edge of a pool. A video camera beneath the water records the infant falling head first into the pool. The scene is horrifying with the child twisting in the water and the likelihood that it is taking in water through its mouth and nostrils very high.

However, this particular lad suddenly begins twisting himself into a position of control in the water. In a matter of seconds, he had successfully managed to back float in the pool. He is overheard crying out for help, but, in the interim, he continues breathing.

The video is a powerful witness of the benefit of infant swimming resource (ISR) lessons. During ISR training, infant children are taught how to hold their breath under water, roll themselves into a back floating position, float on their own, and continue in that restful state until they can be retrieved from the water.

ISR is one of those handy skills that make the difference between life and death with a child. As for the baby or poster child for ISR seen in the video, he was completely unharmed. Other toddlers are seen actively swimming unassisted in a pool and quickly resorting to a back floating position as soon as their arms and legs tire. They are trained to swim fully clothed with their shoes on. This prepares them for a worst case scenario.
