They Rejected Abortion When Told Their Baby Had Health Issues, What Happened Shocked Even Doctors

When Kevin and Emily were told that their unborn child had Bladder Outlet Obstruction (BOO) and would die without immediate surgery in the womb, the couple did not hesitate to make the surgical appointment. The doctors told them that abortion was a viable option, especially when they consider the health battles they will face once their son was born.

They were told that if the baby survived, there would be more health issues that they would have to ace immediately.

The obstruction prevented urine from draining which would lead to kidney and other organ failure. Additional health problems would be common. The doctors stated that this condition occurs in 1 out of every 4,000 births and that four out of five women opt for the abortion.

Kevin and Emily were the one-in-five who did not choose abortion and on July 18, 2014 Henry Jordan was born two months early and weighing 4 pounds 3 ounces. Within the first 48 hours of his life, Henry has undergone a surgery and two bedside procedures.

Henry has a little function left in one of his kidneys so the doctors are hopeful that they can delay dialysis at this time.

The couple and their new son face a long battle, but not a hopeless one. Henry is a beautiful baby with a lot of hair whose parents love him dearly and will do whatever it takes to make him well.
