It is always telling who either political party fears because it is the person or groups they target. With the mid-term elections less than four months away, it is becoming increasingly evident that the political Left will experience a stinging defeat in the elections on the order of what was experienced in 2010.
The prior mid-terms swung the majority of state governorships and legislatures to the GOP including former liberal bastion of Michigan. The US House of Representatives swung to the GOP despite the largest majority Democrats held in the House in decades. The Tea Party was responsible for the GOP wave.
This time around, the Left has their political sights fixed on the Tea Party and are trying to stereotype them as anti-immigrant if not outright lawless and murderous. At the center of the claim is some extreme rhetoric from Right wing groups that recommend using the threat of force to stop the wave of illegal immigrant children entering the United States. Obama has made it clear that most of them will get asylum and that immigration laws will not be rigorously enforced which has exacerbated the immigration issue over the past year.
This has many people living at or close the border incurring trespassers which brings consist of drug smugglers and violent gang members. While violence to anyone is not the answer, it lacks education on the part of detractors to ignore the context of the immigration problem. It still doesn’t give the political Left what they need to retain control of the Senate November: accomplishments to campaign on.
