Entire Ferguson Police Force Being Investigated By U.S. Justice Department

After almost one month of the fatal shooting of 18 year old Michael Brown, an investigation of the entire Ferguson county police force will be commencing as early as Thursday afternoon. On August 9th, 2014 an unarmed Michael Brown was fatally shot by officer Darren Wilson. This event brought an on slot of racial tension primarily based on the fact that officer Wilson is white and Brown was a young black man.

The city of Ferguson, mainly comprised of African Americans, became outraged by its primarily Caucasian police force, along with surrounding cities. The cry resounding from these communities has been heard, leading to this investigation by the U.S Justice Department.

The county wide investigation will focus on deciding if there were civil rights violations being practiced within the Ferguson police force. This comes as a result of the accusation that Ferguson’s white police officers have been specifically discriminating against its black community.

The community has found error with the police force in both the Michael Brown incident as well as their use of force during the riots following. The U.S Justice Department will conduct this investigation not only in Ferguson but also in the other police departments in the county of St. Louis, Missouri.
