Southampton, England – Sarah Mills went momentarily stepped out of her residence to sack the trash. What she noticed on her doorstep was a discarded old suitcase that was moving. Inside she found 15 black little kittens which she believes were roughly 30 days old.
At the time Mills discovered them, they were crying. They had good reason to cry as they were suffering from flea and worm infestation and a form of feline flu. Thankfully for the kittens, Mills is in charge of “All Animal Rescue” which cares for discarded pets.
She was able to get five of the kittens placed in new homes, but still has to find homes for the rest. She personally finds all of the kittens adorable, and they are doing well. Police have opened up an investigation to determine who is responsible for abandoning the kittens.
Inspector Penny Baker chronicled the deplorable state the animals were left to die in. In one photograph, Inspector Baker is seen holding four or five kittens on a blanket. She is asking the public for information that will help identify the responsible party.
Some have speculated that they cats were abandoned due to their black fur as it does not photograph well. As shallow as it seems, there are people who want their cats to look good in selfies. In the case of these 15 kittens, it is not likely they were all from the same litter.
This adds further weight to the conclusion that they were discarded because of their poor selfie potential.
