If a picture is worth a thousand words, then toddler gibberish and hand-motions should be worth the whole dictionary.
This tiny tot is eloquently explaining to dad that she is having no part in the whole ‘bedtime routine’. Everyone knows that flapping your hands wildly above your head means, ‘why must I get dressed, Dad?’
Since Dad clearly is not understanding the hand-flapping, the little princess tries another approach. Maybe dad will understand the belly-flop, which means ‘dad, I want my milk but I’m not getting dressed’. Still no comprehension on dad’s part. This sure is getting frustrating!
‘Okay, Dad- I’m gonna give it one more try.’ The girl proceeds to lay on her stomach flailing her arms and legs while yelling ‘no-no’!. Toddler speak for ‘dad- no way, no how’. Clearly she isn’t going to be swayed with soft tones, repeated questions or a stern demeanor.
Seeing the look on dad’s face, the toddler knows the end is near and surrenders, baby-style. Roll on the pillow twice and then run back and forth along the bed- that’s the white flag of surrender for every baby.
Dad may have won the battle, but the war is far from over!
