Redecorating does not have to cost a fortune to look stylish. In today’s economy people are finding inventive, affordable ways to redesign their space. Shelley Dellon found an ingenious way to hang curtains in her office using PVC piping and her imagination.

Shelley had three angled windows that she wanted covered to look like one large window. The space was quite wide. She did not want to spend too much of her budget on curtain rods. Instead of buying metal rods, Shelley bought PVC pipe and angled PVC couplers to attach the rods together. She also found inexpensive black brackets to hold the piping in place.

Shelley positioned the PVC pipes and the brackets to create one long curtain rod. Next, she purchased spray paint specially made for plastic and painted the pipes black to match the brackets.

To finish off the rod, Shelley found two ornamental finials for the ends and painted those black. To attach them to the rod, she used a caulk sealant that expands, to adhere to the finials and keep them in place.

After the entire rod was dry and in place, Shelley alternated sheer white curtains with black and white polka dot curtains, creating a beautiful backdrop against her windows.
