Pedro Dinis was taking his dog for a walk in an area just outside of Paris, France. As he was going about his business, he spotted a French mastiff who appeared to be sitting down on the ground. Dinis’ mood changed rapidly, however, when it dawned on him that the animal had actually been buried while still alive. All he could see was her head, as a lot of dirt was covering her body.
Dinis notified the cops of the dangerous situation immediately. When they arrived, they observed that the poor pet’s leash was attached to a bag of gravel. She was also encircled by an abundance of rocks. This was to ensure that she couldn’t escape the burial.
When authorities got the chance to examine the French mastiff more closely, they found that she was dehydrated and in a state of shock. They immediately brought her to a veterinary clinic for assistance. Thankfully, it seems like she’ll recover from this harrowing ordeal and act of unbelievable cruelty. The authorities were able to locate her owner who claimed to be innocent in this situation. People who know him, however, indicate otherwise. One person noted that the French mastiff is past 10 years in age and has arthritis and as a result wouldn’t likely be able to escape from home.
The French mastiff’s owner will soon be charged with the crime of animal cruelty and could serve a two-year sentence in jail. He could also be slapped with a $32,600 fine. 135,000 people have signed a petition urging for the maximum penalty for the owner.
