Fishing can be a rewarding activity. When you get a good catch, you usually feel pretty proud. Once you get in your kitchen, you have a lot of work ahead of you, notably removing the fish’s head, scales and guts. Although the job is messy, it’s something that simply must be done.
One woman recently had the scare of her life when she was cutting up her catch — a bowfin. She removed its guts and sliced off its head. When she was scaling it, something absolutely terrifying happened — it jumped up into the air. At this point, she was frightened and wondering whether or not the poor thing was still alive, after having been gutted entirely.
Her husband responded to the commotion by entering the kitchen and recording this fascinating event. The fish keeps moving in all directions. It sometimes even goes right for the woman, bizarrely enough. It came across like the fish was trying to get revenge on the woman for catching him and cutting his body up. The dog, who is not visible in the video clip, seems to be pretty disturbed by the whole situation too.
This scary event may be chalked up the bowfin’s ability to stay alive for extended air breathing spells. These ancient fish sure are tough.
