Sometimes a man’s best friend is not a human but a simple, nondescript dog. In real life, when something bad happens, many of our friends and acquaintances just disappear. This loyal and trusting animal runs alongside the ambulance which is taking his owner to the emergency room of a nearby hospital.
His tongue hangs out as he huffs and puffs as he hurriedly runs to keep up. This very ordinary and small brown dog of an uncertain breed doesn’t give in as his tiny paws hit the sidewalk in steady pace to the moving vehicle.
He head swivels often to watch the progression of the vehicle which bears the one person in the world that he truly loves and cares for. When the ambulance slows to a halt, he looks eagerly and plaintively up at the medics, eyes shining and tail wagging.
They talk among themselves and finally give in to allow the tired animal to ride in the back with his master. Once at the bustling hospital, he waits patiently below the stretcher in the hallway which bears his unconscious owner.
This kind of unconditional love is uncommon, even among humans, and should always be cherished and always appreciated.
