We have all been told “you can’t judge a book by its’cover”, well Kevin Skinner proves exactly that with his thrilling performance.
He walked on the stage in a worn old sweatshirt, backwards cap and guitar. The crowd, judges,and even MC, we flat out rude to the poor guy. They laughed and snickered at his lowly appearance and slow speech. Skinner took the ribbing well as he maintained his calm and prepared to sing. Everyone was waiting for him to fall flat on his face in front of the world.
Kevin took a breath and rocked the crowd with his tear jerking rendition of Garth Brook’s “If Tomorrow Never Comes”. The unemployed farmer and past chicken catcher blew the crowd away with his musical abilities.
His deep and soulful voice rocked everyone who listened, and left the audience speechless. While his looks may not be par to that of a celebrity performer, his voice rivals that of some of the most revered performers. Skinner may be just a down to earth self proclaimed southern hillbilly, but his humility and self assurance speaks as loudly as his stunning performance.
Obviously the world misread this man and his ability to stop and make the world take another look.
