During difficult times, people try to get the most out of their dollar.
Not surprisingly, they search for a bargain by using coupons and looking for a sale as they walk around the neighborhood mall. Therefore, when someone decides to help a person in need, he should feel happy about his contribution rather than angry for doing what he thought was a kind gesture. Unfortunately, although we see people in the street who would appreciate a helping hand, we cannot always be sure if a person is actually needy or if he is simply taking advantage of someone’s good nature.
A woman in Oklahoma City videotaped a man yelling at an elderly widow. The man thought that he was being kind to the widow by giving her some money each day so that she could buy food. One day, however, he was walking by the same location and saw her getting into a 2013 Fiat.
Immediately, the man became furious and yelled obscenities at her for taking advantage of him. He told her that he worked hard for his money and that he even went hungry one day by giving his money to someone who supposedly was in greater need than he. Finally, he told her that if he saw her again the next day, then he would bust her window.
The woman told KFOR-TV that the widow’s family contacted her and told her that their grandmother, a frequent panhandler in Oklahoma City, had a permit for panhandling and that she was not doing anything illegal.
