The sound of a car running into people,yells, and cries, followed by a man being dragged nearly thirty feet. People banging on the car at all angles trying to make an intoxicated driver stop the destruction that he is ensuing on innocent bystanders is enough to give anyone chills.
At the start line of the Maui Marathon, 22-year-old Pajimola-Aiu ran straight into a line of runners waiting to start the race. Amongst the runners was a fifty-three year old man who was waiting to participate, but was dragged nearly thirty feet by the impaired driver. Thankfully the fifty-three year old man only sustained minor injuries.
The car dragged the fifty-three year old man as well as a traffic cone. A barricade wasn’t enough to stop Pajimola-Aiu from driving through the start line; however the runners were able to stop the driver when he tried to drive around them. The runners pulled Pajimola-Aiu from his car and held him until the police were able to arrive and take him away.
Pajimola-Aiu was arrested with a $1200.00 bail set. This just goes to show that even if there are barricades and cones set up, a drunk driver is still capable of inflicting damage upon helpless bystanders. Please drink responsibly to keep not only yourself, but the others around you safe.
