No one will face charges after a 2-year-old girl was shot and killed by her 5-year-old brother. The boy was given a rifle for his birthday, and his parents thought that it was safe enough to leave out in the open.
It is a gun made especially for small children and it had a child safety on it.
The little boy was able to get the gun and then accidentally shot his sister. The grandmother of both said that it was God’s will that her granddaughter die at that time. An uncle added that it was tragic and something that no parent can be prepared for.
Kentucky police report that this type of thing is difficult; however, it is not unusual that a child of five-years-old would have a gun in that part of the country. The gun is labelled as My First Rifle on the website of the business that sells them.
It comes in various colors, including pink to attract girls. The company advertises it as a toy gun for children. There were accolades in the comments section of the website from parents who were very happy with their purchase of the same type of gun for their child.
