Vlad the Impaler was a legendary infamous figure in history who most likely served as the inspiration for the literary character of Bram Stoker’s renowned tale about Count Dracula. In Stoker’s novel, Dracula made his residence in a very unique castle, and now the real castle which Vlad the Impaler called home has been placed on the real estate market, with a pricetag of a whopping $66 million.
It is a one of a kind conversation piece and unique real estate investment, despite the fact that there is no indoor plumbing of any kind in Dracula’s Castle, although the property does feature electricity.
The property is officially known as Bran Castle and is in relatively good condition, considering the fact that it is almost 800 years old. The royal Romanian Hapsburg family has been caring for the aging structure and surrounding grounds since 2009. The Hapsburgs were also responsible for opening up these infamous castle grounds to the public so tourists could get an up close and personal look at the place Count Dracula and Vlad the Impaler called home.
Every room is tastefully furnished with period tables, chairs and vintage decorations, and one of the bedrooms features a massive, elaborately carved wooden four poster bed that would probably be impossible to move out of the Castle. There are 57 rooms throughout, so there is certainly enough space for the new owner to extend an invitation to family and friends for a stay-over gathering.
And for added effect, the Castle even comes complete with one long, dark stone passageway leading who knows where, as well as several medieval suits of armor. For some industrious entrepreneur, Dracula’s Castle may be able to be transformed into one of the most unique bed and breakfast destinations on the face of the planet, transporting visitors back to the legend and lore of Dracula and his real-life counterpart, Vlad the Impaler.
