When Barabas arrived at Singapore’s SOSD Shelter, he was teetering at deaths door. The owner of the aloof, senior dog scheduled the attending doctor to euthanize the ailing dog rather than treat the animals nasty head injury and faltering health issues.
Although the older dog had a limited life span left, a doctor at the shelter took mercy on the scared animal choosing to keep him instead of putting him down.
Barabas was able to live out the best days of his life showered with love and medical attention that his previous owner obviously denied him. Over time, the weary dog and compassionate doctor developed an enduring bond that lasted throughout the animals remaining lifetime. The senior dog met with several obstacles along the way, but the doctor patiently nursed the dog back to health and happiness.
The miracle of animal adoption finally allowed Barabas to live out his remaining years devoted to the doctor who became his best friend. Showered with unconditional love, the days that Barabas had left were probably the best years of the dog’s life. The elderly dog and his new owner showed by example the true value and success of pet adoptions throughout the world.
