It seems that the lessons of Ferguson have yet to reach certain members of the local police department of Greenville, South Carolina.
Yet another horrifying episode of unmitigated brutality, courtesy of badge wearing defenders of the public, was recorded on video and uploaded to social media for all the world to marvel at.
Shoppers at Walmart got more than their share of “entertainment” as police officers responded to the store manager’s call regarding an allegedly intoxicated man who was loitering about the front of the establishment.
When officers arrived at the scene to investigate the incident, the man apparently told them, “I’m 911”, then proceeded to walk inside the store. The video footage seems to show no further incidence of the man causing any trouble for shoppers, or for the police themselves.
This makes what happened next all the more egregious and inexplicable. First, one of the officers used a taser to drop the man to his knees. Next, they began punching and kicking him without mercy. This went on for so long that shocked eyewitnesses can be heard on the video begging them to stop. Indeed, cries of ““Please don’t punch him like that. Please don’t. Don’t punch him no more”, can clearly be heard.
The fact that the entire incident was captured on video for an audience of billions to observe didn’t seem to bother Greenville’s finest as they went about their work. Perhaps they will reconsider their actions when the inevitable lawsuit and disciplinary action comes to pass.
