She Mixed Onion, Soup And Sour Cream With Hash Browns. Easiest Copycat Recipe Ever.

One of the great treats in life is dining on comfort foods at favorite restaurants throughout America. The Cracker Barrel chain of restaurants specializing in country-style cooking has been a favorite since 1969. Thousands of customers have satisfied their cravings for comfort food by choosing Cracker Barrel’s legendary hashbrown casserole.

But if a Cracker Barrel location isn’t nearby or it’s not convenient to drive hundreds of miles in search of one, two enterprising home chefs have placed a video online describing how to create Cracker Barrel’s famous Hashbrown Casserole recipe in the comfort of your own kitchen, using a copycat recipe from Gooseberry Patch.

Lightly grease a 13″ by 9″ glass casserole dish with butter or olive oil. Set your oven to heat up to 350 F. Spread a 32-ounce package of thawed frozen hashbrown potatoes over the bottom of the greased casserole dish and sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Now in a mixing bowl, stir together one can of condensed cream of chicken soup, a one-pound container of sour cream, 1/2 cup of melted butter and one-half cup finely chopped fresh onion.

Spread this soup mixture over the hashbrown potatoes, stirring gently to mix in well. Now sprinkle half a pound of grated cheddar cheese over the top of the casserole. Bake in the oven for between 45 and 55 minutes until the top is bubbling and melted. This casserole serves 6 to 8 hungry individuals, either as a main course or side dish to meatloaf.
