One man is facing a unique challenge: caring for 171 ducklings at once. As a duck breeder, he’s found himself with quite a large flock, and of course, like all ducks, they need access to water to be happy and healthy. His solution to this problem is a pink plastic kiddie pool in the ducklings’ pen. The video that results is adorable.
When they first approach the new addition to their pen, the ducklings seem pretty hesitant. Understandably, they’re a little skeptical of this new plastic thing they’ve been given. At first, all the ducks do is dip their beaks in, testing the waters and probably getting a little to drink.
This video isn’t the first time that these ducklings have ever been in water. In fact, a small snippet about a minute into the video shows the ducklings thirteen days earlier. The much smaller ducklings are shown splashing around in a small tub. Still, a little tub and a big pool are quite different!
Finally, one brave duckling decides to be the first to face this new challenge. He climbs over the wall of the pool a little awkwardly, and splash! He’s in. Not long after, two more follow, and soon, it’s a free for all, with ducks jumping in and out of the pool and gliding along the surface. Despite the initial hesitation, it doesn’t take long at all for these ducks to realize that water is the place to be.
