VIDEO: I Can’t Believe You Can Do THIS With Just A Gum Wrapper And A Battery. COOL!

It is great when small survivor skills can save someone in trouble. Whether you are an avid camper or you get stranded on the side of the road, learning to start a fire can keep you warm in cold weather. You don’t need to be a girl scout or boy scout to learn how to do it. This video shows how to start a fire with something as simple as a gum wrapper and a flashlight battery.

Here is how you do it. First, cut a metallic gum wrapper into an hourglass shape. Hopefully scissors are available. It looks like this will only work with the long pieces of gum with the metallic wrappers. The middle part of the gum wrapper should be about 2 millimeters.

Then hold each end of the wrapper to an end of the battery. The outside part of the wrapper should be touching the ends of the battery. A flame should ignite. This can then be used to start a small fire with some gathered brush or leaves.

This is helpful for all who have not been able to learn how to rub two sticks together. Also, sometimes the matches are simply lost. The use of gum wrappers and batteries is another option to try. It does look a little dangerous so watch those fingers!
