VIDEO: He Marks Lines Across A Block Of Glass, Then Does THIS. The Result? WOW!

Jack Storm creates magnificent glass sculptures without ever heating or melting the glass he uses. This “cold glass” technique is what sets him apart, not to mention his astonishing outcomes.

Located in Los Angeles California, his works undergo countless cutting and countless gluing back together, each individual sculpture taking him somewhere between eight and eighteen weeks to complete. Storm’s art work is very unique because he is one of very few people who have the dedication and ability to complete art like his.

He pieces are composed of a core of lead crystal which he polishes, cuts, and grinds until the light hits spaces and creates vivid colors with intense refracting abilities. His pieces are each unique and hand crafted not manufactured. Simply cutting and adding color will take Storm between one and two weeks. He draws inspiration from his personal life, naming one of his pieces after his wife, Vivian.

The truly mystifying aspect of his work is his use of the optic crystal and high end epoxy, that share the same refractive index. This lets light pass through without the eye noticing but the interior lead crystal core bounces the light around. His end product is colorful but translucent around the outsides. Storm makes it appear as though he injected cracks into the interior without damaging the outside. His optical sculptures challenge the human eye and end up with a magnificent piece that can be displayed for many years. Jack Storm’s art is honestly breath taking and fascinating.
