The beginning scene of the video is of a van on the beach, driving in a circle, much like a dog would run in circles chasing its tail. The van leaves tire tracks in the wet sand, then it stops. A man and a dog get out of the van.
The story begins to unfold as told by the dog, from the dog’s perspective. The dog, Denali, talks of the strong connection he and the man, Ben, have with one another. Ben, remains at Denali’s side through cancer and Denali remains at the man’s side as he fights through cancer.
The story also illustrates how Denali is constantly there for the man not only during his cancer but also after he loses his insurance. Denali and Ben remain inseparable through their ups and downs in life as they share adventures, trips, camping, and surfing together. The bond they share is unbreakable.
The story accentuates the closeness and loyalty that can exist between humans and their dogs. It also sheds light on the ability of animals, specifically dogs, to sense illness in people. Denali senses that it is “time” and as he succumbs to the cancer, Ben takes him back to some of his favorite sites to enjoy.
