She Put Lined Up Painter’s Tape On A Shirt One To Big For Her. Then She Does THIS To It!

Keidra LeJeune is a blogger known for her DIY clothing projects. Sometimes she creates holiday-themed garments, like this Independence Day top. She started with a white t-shirt and cans of red and blue spray paint. She recommends choosing a top that is one size too big, as the crafting process removes some of the stretch.

She started the project by cutting stars out of paper. She arranged them in a square toward the top left of the shirt, with extra stars placed on top to fill in the space next to the neckline. It does not matter how many stars are used as long as they form a square and do not take up too much room on the shirt. Once she was sure of the design, she secured their placement with painter’s tape. She used more painter’s tape to outline a box around the stars and then create stripes down the entire length of the shirt.

She placed sheets of paper inside the shirt to prevent the paint from bleeding through and then covered the top of the shirt in more paper, leaving only the star section uncovered.

She painted this section with the blue spray paint. Once the blue paint was dry, she covered up the stars and sprayed the striped section with red paint. A second coat of red paint was necessary for full coverage. Once the paint was fully dry, she removed the tape and cut the sleeves off of the shirt to turn it into a form-fitting tank top.
