In America, tips are a pretty customary gesture amongst the service industry. In fact most waiters, waitresses, bartenders and baristas’ very lives depend on their tips. But when one couple went out to get a pizza, their waitress left them speechless by turning the table.
The man was undergoing chemotherapy for brain cancer, and he and his wife wanted to get out of the house and enjoy a meal out. Fresh air and all that. A friend of the couple worked at the restaurant, Brother’s Pizza, and knew of the struggles that the couple faced – between financial strain and mental and physical stress.
When they asked for the check, the waitress delivered something else the couple certainly wasn’t expecting. She’d paid for their meal in full, upon hearing about their circumstances. The waitress had made a few extra tips through the night and wanted to show that she cared about her friends, and she was there to help as best she could.
The man shared what happened on Facebook, and after a few tears, knows that there are good people left in the world who are willing to do kind things for others. The owner of the restaurant refunded the waitress too. That one was on the house.
