Leaked Memo Proves Trump’s Housing Discrimination In New York City

Donald Trump has been accused of housing discrimination. A leaked document has proven that those accusations are true. The Democratic Coalition Against Trump found that there were 9,050 apartments, but they only housed 99 minorities. This means that only 4.4 percent of the people who lived in the housing were minorities. The document proved that both Donald and Fred Trump tried to ignore the 1968 Fair Housing Act.

The Trump Organization did allow more non-white tenants to live in the housing after the 1970s. However, occupancy by non-white tenants only increased from 4.4 percent to 7.2 percent. There is more proof that the Trump Organization went out of their way to make sure that African Americans did not live in the housing.

Thomas Miranda used to work for Donald Trump. He stated that employees would put a C on the application every time that someone black applied for an apartment. One of Trump’s managers also stated that it was safe to live there because there were no blacks around.

There are also a number of documents that prove non-white tenants were less likely to be approved for an apartment. Some of Trump’s properties did not have any black people living in them.
