It’s always frustrating when food goes bad before it gets eaten. Such waste. But many types of food, like as bread, can be stored in the freezer to keep it fresh. Unfortunately, that is not an option for all types of food lose some of their taste and texture after defrosting. This is why it’s so important to implement different ways to keep food from going bad, to help save time and money otherwise wasted shopping for more groceries to replace the ones you didn’t eat.
Jill Urban, a do-it-yourself expert, came up with one way to keep chips from going stale. Not only will this method keep your chips fresh, but will be used again and again for future snack items: Using only a plastic hanger with pants-clips on the end and a pair of pliers, a “chip clip” can be simply made at home to keep your bagged snacks fresh.
This type of hanger is typically found at a pants store. Rather than throwing these hangers away, they can be re-used. So find a few and take your pliers, grip the hanger with the pliers right where the clip of the hanger begins. Push tight and break off the clip from the rest of the hanger.
So next time you open a bag of chips and need to save them, simply roll the top of the bag down tightly open up your fancy new DIY clip and place it over the chip bag and fasten to seal. Keeping out the air will keep your chips fresh until the next time they are eaten. Check out the video here!
