There have been a lot of images floating around on news stations about the riots in Baltimore. Some of these pictures might be real while others are clearly fake.
A Fox news station decided to post a few pictures of the riots, but they are from Venezuela. One of the images is of a large fire near a hotel with a McDonald’s sign in the foreground. This picture is from a station that is based in Memphis. The picture was posted on Facebook, and ever since it was posted, the station has received a great deal of critique.
The comment on the picture was that Baltimore was going up in flames, but if you look closely at the picture, you can see some familiar sights that have been used in the news before. On the night in question, there were a few businesses that were burnt, but this picture wasn’t even of Baltimore.
It’s a picture of riots that have taken place in Venezuela. The riots took place in 2014, so the station didn’t even use a picture from the current year. The station even brought in comments that the mayor supposedly made about the fire. Since the picture has been released, at least one person who works at the station has apologized.
