An indoor shooting range in Daytona Beach, Florida was recently approved a license to serve alcoholic beverages. On a shooting range. While some people are happy about this new change, astonishingly others have raised concerns.
Studies have confirmed both potential and inherent dangers of combining alcohol and firearms. Apparently the ‘judgment impairing” qualities of alcohol can be dangerous in the presence of weapons.
One study done by the British Medical Journal in 2011 found that people who own a guns are twice as likely to binge drink. Officially drinking more than four or five in one setting is classified as binge drinking. People who own a gun are also statistically twice as likely to drink and drive. Gunowners are twice as likely to have more than 60 drinks in one month. Augmenting this alcohol plays a role in about 30 percent of the shooting deaths that occur that occur in the United States each year.
Ron Perkinson is one of the people who works at the indoor range. He stated that when customers walk in the range, they will have to bring the necessary paperwork. They will also have their IDs scanned. Additionally, the workers will take a look at the customers’ pupils just like police officers do.
