Mother Teresa is a Catholic nun known for her charity and good works. She was born in Skopje, Macedonia, in 1910. Throughout her life, Mother Teresa helped the poor in places such as Calcutta, Indiaand founded the Missionaries of Charity to help the poor worldwide.
She managed to change the lives of many people before her death in 1997, and many devout Roman Catholics believe that she still looks out for people after her death. The Vatican has announced its plans to officially canonize mother Teresa for all of her achievements, both before and after her death.
A person can become a Roman Catholic saint after they have died and then performed at least two miracles. In order to qualify as an official miracle, an event must be improbable and it must be directly attributed to the person.
The first miracle attributed to Mother Teresa occurred in Kolkata, when a woman was cured of a stomach tumor after she prayed to Mother Teresa. The second one just happened, when a Brazilian man was healed of a brain tumor after he prayed to Mother Teresa. In both instances, the people claim that they were supposed to die before they prayed to Mother Teresa, and there is no medical reason for their turnaround. God at work… or magic… or luck, who knows?
The Roman Catholic Church views these circumstances as miracles, because they believe that they happened due to the potential saint interceding on the behalf of a person to God while they are in heaven… Though the Vatican plans to canonize Mother Teresa, she will not officially become a saint until September 4, 2016, which is the anniversary of her death.
