A woman woke up in a train station, dazed and disoriented. She had experienced a seizure that left her lying helpless on the floor of a train. Upon coming to, the 27-year-old fitness instructor found a note in her hand:
“Hi Eleanor. I hope by the time you read this you are feeling better. You had a seizure on the train and I took you off. … Here is a coffee to perk you up later and £10 to make sure you get a taxi home. … I’ve contacted people from your phone and medial help is on the way. … Wishing you all the best and a quick recovery. Love Tom.”
This mysterious “Tom” contacted 14 people from Ellie Farnfield’s contact list and alerted station personnel of her situation. Farnfield immediately went to social media to post the thoughtful note from her mysterious and unknown benefactor. She hopes to find “Tom” someday and thank him.
“Faith restored in humanity in London last night,” she posted on Facebook as part of her #findtraintom campaign. “Thank you so much to everyone who helped me last night – especially ‘Tom.’ Would love to try and find him.”
Her post has since been shared online by more than 1,000 people around the world. Farnfield told Daily Mail that her seizure experience on the train wasn’t her first. She has had seizures in the past, but having a seizure on the train was particularly hazardous.
“Anything could have happened,” Farnfield said. “I could have hit my head, fallen off the train …”
When she woke up, she says she was very confused. When she saw the note and the money, she became emotional. She told Daily Mail that she would like to return the money to “Tom” should she ever meet him, she would buy him a drink.
The friends and family of the part-time acupuncturist agree with her plan. As of yet, “Tom” remains elusive, but Farnfield hopes to have a positive update to the story by the end of this week.
