Hillary Clinton has accomplished a lot during the twenty-five years she’s survived in politics. It would be hard to deny her of the accomplishments she’s achieved in that time, but that is exactly what Carly Fiorina recently tried to publicly do. She claimed that Hillary Clinton had done nothing with her time in office, prompting, “What has she accomplished? Ask a Democrat.” Well Ms. Fiorina, here you go…
To put this issue to rest here is a brief summary of Mrs. Clinton’ s political achievements:
Clinton has always, and continues to increase women’s reproductive rights and advocates for gender equality, pay equality, and women’s safety. She founded the Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women, and helped to improve after school program standards. Not to mention the extremely hard work she constantly does (as part of her job as Secretary of State) to improve international relations and represent America respectfully.
In 2012 she negotiated a cease-fire deal between Israel and Hamas. Additionally, she played a large role in the development of the recent Iranian nuclear deal and the fair trade agreement between Afghanistan and Pakistan. After 9/11 she secured $21.4 billion to rebuild the World Trade Center.
Clinton is also a human rights advocate – she supports raising the United States’ minimum wage and has worked to establish fair sociopolitical and labor protections worldwide. The welfare of the planet is extremely important to her and she has works tirelessly alongside members of her party to ensure that measures against climate change are being taken both within the U.S. and abroad.
Lastly, the simple fact that she has dedicated so many years of her life to enacting and reforming American policy to betterment of the people deserves recognition, I think. She’s been in politics longer than a lot of the people who’ll vote for her have even been alive (I’m one of them). That kind of commitment to your country and your ideals speaks for itself as an accomplishment.
But who can blame Fiorina for her absurd and ignorant comments? She’s just doing everything she can to keep up with the other GOP candidates on this front.
