Subaru has hit on a great set-up for their latest commercial by playing off the dynamics of husbands and wives that everyone can relate to.
Sometimes men don’t think their partners notice when a cute little number catches their eye. Well this lady certainly does.
The latest ad is entitled ‘In the Doghouse’ and it features a family of dogs in their automobile when they are stopped at a stop sign. As they make their stop a cute little ‘pedestrian’ crosses in front of them in the crosswalk. She’s a poodle. And she’s pretty.
Needless to say the dad notices and when she catches his eye he watches as she slowly crosses right in front of the family car. The wife picks up on the oogling going on and is not as impressed with either the poodle’s appearance or her husband’s intent gaze. This is pretty evident by the low snarl she gives her husband. He looks over at his wife and then slowly proceeds once the poodle has passed.
The setting is one that has probably happened in most family vehicles and Subaru nailed it in this wonderful commercial. It’s only 30 seconds long but apparently that’s all it takes to strike a note with an audience.
