The “Princeton Mom” Susan Patton earned a bit of fame when she wrote a letter that addressed young Princeton and other college women to spend three quarters of their time in college on finding a husband rather than focusing on their education. Patton has returned to elaborate on the subject in a recent interview with Fox News host Steve Doocy.

Mixed reviews came pouring into social media outlets and through a flood of emails to Fox News operations. The controversial author has been openly criticized by feminists as well as a host of other representative groups for being stuck in the middle ages. Her advice however, has been welcomed and praised by some men and those who believe in traditional roles for housewives or even working mothers.

Whether people love or hate the message that Patton gives, her ideals are anchored in the belief that American society has over-corrected the blatant suppression of rights for women throughout history and she is not likely to change her views anytime soon. The advice is quite simple and involves common sense manners like a wife offering her husband a drink or choices for dinner when he gets home from a long day at work.

Patton denies that her advice would lead women to believe that any behavior by a husband is acceptable and restated that both spouses should be respectful and kind. She also stated that people have to make marriages work and should not even consider divorce as an option because women over 30 would not be able to replace a husband.
