President Obama, who sold the nation on a health care reform measure to cover the nation’s uninsured which turned out to be a massive set of taxes costing millions the insurance coverage they liked, is out saying that climate change is not a “liberal plot”. He mocked the opposition by insinuating their positions and concerns are small-minded and idiotic. This president belittled the opposition by saying that while he himself has no background in science, he’ll take the word of experts much as he would if they counseled him that smoking cause’s cancer. Bear in mind that he smokes.
The eloquent orator who in 2008 said his election would turn back the tides again affirmed that climate change is rooted only in science and not a plot for tax increases and encroachment on individual freedoms. However, is it all just a matter of science? Look at recent statements from researchers with National Resources Canada (NRCan), which overseas oil & gas regulations.
They claim that extreme weather will be increasing as a direct result of climate change. This will have the effect of increasing wildfires, floods, and insect-borne diseases such as Lyme disease and West Nile virus. What is also interesting is that they NRCan admits that even if Canada and other nations take aggressive measures to combat climate change it won’t change the upward trend at all. Rather, they only seek to mitigate the ever increasing impact of climate change.
Well, Obama and his party want to spend vital tax dollars fighting a phenomenon that will worsen despite their efforts, how can anyone “scientifically” determine the good the counter-measures will achieve? Perhaps “liberal plot” isn’t the best word to describe the effort. Perhaps “liberal folly” is what it should be named.
