Macaws love water and giving them a shower on a regular basis is a great benefit to their health. Water keeps their skin hydrated and their feathers and other areas clean. If you have a bird, you may not think about giving him a shower.
It seems unnatural. But the fact of the matter is that macaws actually enjoy showers and water in general. The macaw in this particular video, for example, likes it so much he is cat calling and singing while enjoying the spray. The bird walks back and forth and shakes his head and flaps his wings. He is simply delighted with the way the shower feels against his feathers.
The video goes on for a full minute, but viewers likely wonder how long the bird would stay in the water and sing and carry on as he is. Unless you are a macaw owner, you may never know. People generally think of bird baths as something that sits outside and is filled with water.
While birds enjoy those as well, if you own a macaw, you might want to try setting up a bar in the shower so your bird can enjoy getting clean on a regular basis. Just make sure you are able to get him in the family schedule so he does not infringe on anyone else’s time!
