Billionaire Green Activist, Tom Steyer, Vows to Battle Trump, Says: “Money Not an Issue”

A wealthy environmental activist has vowed to fight President-elect Donald Trump on climate change. Tom Steyer, a billionaire and previous hedge-fund manager, said on Friday that he has a plan that will keep citizens and voters engaged with the issue and finding an effective method of communicating with the Trump administration.

Steyer has already spent about $150 million of his own money to battle climate change, which has proved to be a divisive issue in America. Trump has said global warming is not real and is not caused by man despite many leading scientists around the globe agreeing that the Earth has reached crisis mode.

A number of environmental groups have planned street protests after Trump takes office on January 20, 2017. Steyer said that while he will continue his work on climate change, he will not challenge Trump through the court system.

In the four years since he left his hedge-fund position, Steyer has increased turn out with young voters. He claimed 20 percent more young adults voted in the 2016 election than in 2012. Steyer added that while the desired president was not elected this time around, he was proud of the work he and his groups have done, and he would not change anything.
