Senator Ted Cruz was the keynote speaker at a recent sold out gala for In Defense of Christians. This organization represents the persecution of Christians, a non-profit based out of Washington. The Middle Eastern Christians booed the senator off the stage after he made a comment about them having no better alley than Israel.
Cruz did not read from a script when he made the comment that angered those in attendance. This Republican senator was speaking briefly about how religious bigotry is a cancer that is taking many forms. Cruz was explaining how Hamas, Al-Qaida, and ISIS, are all actively working to destroy all religious minorities over in the Middle East. While highlighting how this issue needed to be addressed, the senator than stated how the Christians have no bigger ally than in Israel.
Almost immediately after that comment, the crowd began to turn on the senator. The crowd was heard yelling for him to stop it, while the chant of boos began to ring louder. The senator tried to continue with his message. As the crowds jeers got louder, Cruz pointed out that any of those that hate Israel, must in fact hate America. The audience began to plead with the senator to stop talking, while the group’s president pleaded they all listen.
Cruz concluded his message by saying if you won’t stand with Israel and the Jews, that he was not going to stand with them. He wished the audience a good night, and ended by saying God bless. He walked off the stage to a chorus of boos.
