VIDEO: You Won’t Believe What Happens When This Man Starts Singing In His Car!

TJ Smith of South Dakota’s Country music station 100.5 FM known as “Kickin Country” has a knack for conducting sing-a-longs in the oddest of places. In one recent event, the host performs this song antic on a highway and records other drivers’ responses as he drives up alongside them and beckons them to join him in a song. Naturally, some folks would see his behavior as odd and ignore him or pass him by, but there were those who did not.

The song he choose was the 1968 top ten hit by The Foundations called “Build Me Up Buttercup”. One person he drives alongside is a man driving a truck with his wife in the front passenger seat. As Smith sings the song, both he and the other driver point to each other to the words of the song “I need you more than any one darling!”

Most people watching the sing-a-long were amused and politely gave Smith a thumbs up or waved to him. One young couple actually slowed their car down enough to pull out their smartphone and snap a picture of Smith. It was a moment of levity, but no one participated as much as the unidentified driver of the pickup truck. He and Smith sang along for what appeared to be a least one verse and the refrain.

The driver really got into it. It probably helped matters that Smith had a beautiful woman in the car with him singing along with brunette hair, striking clear blue eyes, and a daisy wreath placed on her head. She was as much a sight to see as Smith was with his singing.
