In an amazing video posted by an English female sea diver, the woman narrates her experience with a particular eel.
She stated that eels typically reside in the abodes they find in dark crevices. The woman must have gift with eels because she is often able to coax them out with fish. However, this one eel in particular never responded to any of her overtures. The diver even stated that she would draw close to the eel’s home and put her own face up close to the eel, but it would not respond. Her attempts to hand it fish were unrecognized.
In and of itself, the diver’s behavior is extraordinary as eels are considered aggressive fish and at least certain species are known to attack divers if they feel provoked. However, this eel whisperer would approach the reclusive fish and speak gently to it.
On one occasion she captured on film, it finally came out of its hiding place. Not only did it come out, it cuddled up with her. At one point, it seemed to snuggle its head against her face and bosom almost the way a warm and friendly cat would.
The eel also swam in between her arms, around her legs, all the while allowing her to pet it. It even accepted fish from her. The diver stated that ever after this experience the eel remained a good friend of hers. She may only see it once a year and at one time three years elapsed between visits, but time doesn’t matter. As soon as it recognizes her from afar, it comes straight at her and resumes the affectionate display.
