VIDEO: Russell Brand slams Fox News

With Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) threatening to take over Baghdad and with that essentially capture the nation of Iraq, reports are emerging of their brutality. Captured enemy combatants are killed most brutally. In areas falling under ISIS control, Sharia Law is enacted and with that ends the freedom to vote for women (and likely everyone else) and the right of education for women.

Religious persecution is rampant. It has also been confirmed that the judge who presided over Saddam Hussein’s trial and execution himself was executed without due process much less any formal charges being brought up against him.

Against that backdrop, Russell Brand, the 39-year-old Englishman, actor, and perennial beach bum, has spoken out against both Judge Jeanine Pirro and the Fox News Network for their criticism of Obama’s inept foreign policy and weakness on matters of national security. Brand took issue with Pirro’s statement that Obama doesn’t have what it takes to prosecute Gitmo detainees. For its part, Fox News has covered the Obama Benghazi cover up like no other network. Brand believes these actions are barbaric or demonstrative of what he termed were “savage values”.

Such statements were meant for like-minded audiences such as found at the DailyKos or Huffington Post, but he did not explain what he meant by the “savage values”. He also equated Fox News’ negative coverage of Obama as being akin to ISIS because it affects millions of people. Brand failed to illustrate how the so-called effect rose to the same level as ISIS. Certainly, Fox News has not incited any religious persecution, loss of freedom, or claimed the lives of anyone.
