Call it a natural phenomenon, but it is possible to bend ice water and in the process chill a drink in a snap. The trick is worth knowing as it can come in handy with the long 4th of July weekend coming and many people finding themselves entertaining guests.
By using this skill a person will be able to flash freeze a bottle of drinking water at a simple touch, freeze the water instantaneously as it pours out of the bottle to create a small ice sculpture if you will, or place an ice cube in a drink watch the drink freeze before you very eyes in a matter of seconds.
How is this possible? Well, the trick is to put bottles of purified water in the freezer and keeping them there for 2 hours 45 minutes. At that point, the bottled water will still be in liquid form, but at a temperature just below freezing. The bottles can then be removed and with a sharp poke of a finger the contents immediately freeze into ice.
If that same sub-freezing water is gently poured into a bowl containing ice, the water contents freeze instantly allowing very creative ice sculptures to be made as if the person is bending water. The resulting frozen water has the perfect consistency of a slush and is edible. If a bottle of this water is poured into an empty glass, just dropping a small ice cube into the center will cause the contents to crystalize entirely.
