VIDEO: Baby Elephant Was Left To Die, What Happened Next Left Even Veterinarians Dumbfounded

A newborn baby elephant named Komo got a new lease on life after a close brush with death in Northeastern Zimbabwe. Apparently after poor Komo’s mother was slaughtered by poachers, he was left abandoned and alone to fend for himself.

Luckily, workers from the Wild is Life sanctuary found the dehydrated and traumatized tike before he succumbed to the elements or worse. After attempts to reunite the calf with its herd failed, Wild is Life had it airlifted to its sanctuary in Harare, Zimbabwe. Komo is now happily established at his new home where he can thrive and roam free.

Recently, a videographer who made Komo’s acquaintance shot film of a day in the life of this happy-go-lucky baby elephant. A complete metamorphosis can be seen as the chipper, fun loving Komo runs, walks, plays, and mingles with the other animals at the sanctuary.

Komo isn’t shy as he hams it up for the camera. One of his favorite activities seems to be wallowing in a large mound of sand. No one would believe that just a short time ago, this same elephant was on the verge of death. Let’s hope Komo lives out a long and happy life among people who love him.
