She Was Last Seen at McDonald’s With Book Bag. Hours Later Her Mom Receives a Frightening Call.

Sixteen year old Kiaira Lazae Burris was a typical teen. On June 23, she was seen in the parking lot of McDonald’s restaurant in Versailles, Missouri at approximately 3 p.m. She had a small backpack filled with clothing.

Hours passed.

Kiaira’s mother, Shyla Henderson, figured that her daughter was simply out and enjoying the warmth of summer when she received a disturbing phone call. Kiaira phoned her mother at approximately 9:30 that evening. Her mother noted that her daughter sounded distraught and as if she had been crying.

And then her mother’s worst nightmare happened.

Kiaira’s mother heard a male voice in the background repeatedly state “I hid the body,” before the call was disconnected. Attempts to return the call were futile. Believing her daughter was in grave danger, Kiaira’s mother phoned police who issued an endangerd missing person advisory throughout the state.

Police believed that Kiaira may have been in the company of a 20-year-old man named Antonio Jerel Primer Jr.

Unlike many missing persons cases, this story has a happy ending.

Kiaira was located safe the following day. She was found in a motel room, safe and unharmed, in the small town of Mexico, Missouri. Although no more details have been made available in regards to the case, Versailles Assistant Police Chief Burkhart did tell reporters that the phone call would be investigated.
