She Leads The Audience In Prayer, But Then You’ll Be Laughing So Hard That Tears Will Flow

So often, sweeping generalizations are made about various populations in the world. Every so often, those preconceived notions are blown up with dynamite, as in the case of Mary Maxwell when she approached the microphone to offer the evening’s invocation at a celebration of Home Instead Senior Care in Omaha, Nebraska.

At first glance, Mary appears to be a kind, frail, older woman who may be a little scared of speaking in front of the crowd. She has several papers in her hands, held by fingers twisted by the effects of arthritis, and she dutifully reads each word through her small-rimmed glasses.

However, after the first sixty seconds, the facade drops away to allow the crowd to see just how comfortable she is and realize that perhaps that she missed her calling in life. With a serious look on her face and a twinkle in her eye, she proceeds to tell approximately five minutes worth of jokes regarding the trials and tribulations of getting older.

She ends her speech with a beautiful adaptation of the Beatitudes that directly reflects the heart and soul of any senior care facility that is worth its weight. This is a must-see video if you are in need of a laugh!
