After repeated dire warnings of drastic insurance cost increases, Republicans have now shifted tactics. The mantra on Obamacare from the right originally spoke about how it would not be affordable. Now, however, the data is in, and their predictions have not been borne up.

What they warned about has simply been shown to be untrue. How are they reacting? By spinning the message. Instead of warning about high costs for all, they are now focusing again the negativity on the poor. There is again a sense of blaming the poor- changing the focus away from the shortcomings of the Republican message and placing blame on the least powerful of society.
The Republicans, now that they can no longer scream of lack of affordability, are retreating into their same-old idea that the rest of us should not be helping the poor. As the author points out, the Republicans are trying to reshape the focus, making it less about the affordability of Obamacare premiums, and more about society paying anything to help those less fortunate.
