The continuing debate between Conservative and Liberal viewpoints has taken another step toward trying to claim superiority by noting five separate peer-reviewed studies that show that liberals are smarter.
The first study, entitled, “Bright Minds and Dark Attitudes,” was done by Brock University and makes the claim that having lower intelligence during childhood can help predict that a person will be racist who also votes for Conservatives.
Fairleigh Dickinson University conducted a survey involving 1,185 people which asked which news shows they watched and then queried them with questions about current events. Among eight possible options, Fox News was found to have the lowest ranking, even below those who watch no news.
Researchers at the University of Arkansas published a study entitled, “Low-Effort Thought Promotes Conservatism,” which looked at four studies they had conducted to judge the ability to use, “effortful, deliberate thought.” Those who held Conservative viewpoints were more likely to make little effort into their thinking.
At Kent State University, a researcher released a report entitled, “Abstract Reasoning as a Predictor of Attitudes Toward Gay Men.” The study found those with low abstract reasoning ability have a tendency to be homophobic.
The last study performed brain scans with an MRI on students at University College in London and asked their political persuasion. What they found was that liberal students had more gray matter, which would make them smarter.
Conservatives have often criticized universities as bastions of liberal thought and these studies will no doubt reinforce that belief.
